With a little less than a month to go in a tour that had kept Pearl Jam on the road for most of , a stop in Detroit was a chance to reconnect with a city that had been very supportive of the band throughout the years. The reward was a raucous affair that was unlike other dates on the tour. The Detroit show summoned all of the musical influences that Pearl Jam wore so ardently on their sleeves.
